Meet the Filmmaker

What is their why?

Lisa Enes is a Norwegian filmmaker from Kristiansand. She has studied directing at Nordland College of Art and Film, and has an MFA in directing fiction from The Norwegian Film School. She mainly works as a director, but includes text and editing in her artistic practice. Enes has directed several short films and music videos, and often explores different forms of hierarchies in her work.

“I have worked as a porter for many years. I am fascinated by the fact that porters see everything that happens in a hospital, but no one sees them. They can make a big difference for a patient, a difference that doctors and nurses rarely notice. I wanted to tell a story about one of the most invisible porters of them all, Mai Linn. She is taken for granted by her colleagues but has a rich inner life that no one knows about. Through the portrayal of Mai Linn, I aim to foster empathy and understanding for individuals who may appear outwardly content but are silently struggling with loneliness or other internal conflicts. By shedding light on her inner world, the film invites viewers to empathize with her journey and experiences.”

I, too, was interested in seeing this film. And I think I got the gist of it, but the subtitles were not displayed. Thank you.
