Over one-third of American adults are lonely, according to a study by AARP. That number has nearly doubled since the 1980’s, making it one of today’s major public health issues. In fact, loneliness increases mortality risk by 30%—the same as smoking 15 cigarettes per day.
That’s why we launched The UnLonely Project four years ago – to raise awareness about the public health crisis of loneliness, tapping into creative arts as a way to bring people together.
Our signature program, the annual UnLonely Film Festival, is a collection of 35 short narrative, animated and documentary films dealing with the issue of loneliness. Available to stream all year long, the films are presented in conjunction with discussion questions and creative art activities to help viewers explore the themes more deeply.
The film festival launches with an awards ceremony featuring screenings of the year’s award-winning films and appearances from luminaries from the arts, medicine and public policy worlds.
We invite you to join organizations such as Cigna, Novartis, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Otsuka, and Biomarin to sponsor this program. Typically, our sponsorship packages include featuring your brand in promotional collateral, email campaigns, social media outreach, press releases, merchandising, and more.
