PROJECT UNLONELY FILMS Season 9
Alexandra Kern and Lina Abascal
Director & Producer; Writer & Filmmaker
While we hope the ephemeral feeling of dancing at Stud Country and the beautiful visuals hook audiences, our intention is to use the dance night as a vessel to discuss deeper themes about the importance of community spaces and rhythmic movement’s profound role in creating and sustaining communities.

Her directorial debut, the short documentary Wild Magnolias, screened at multiple Oscar-qualifying film festivals across the country where it found a permanent stay in the historical archive at the New Orleans Jazz Museum. The film is also available online at Short of the Week and won best short documentary for 2024’s Best of NFMLA.
