PROJECT UNLONELY FILMS Season 9

New Old Friends

Aaron Sprecher

Runtime: 08:32 min
Two gentlemen make friends with each other in the park, lovingly bonding over the stupidity of children via their own grandchildren. They get along so well, it feels like old friends meeting for the first time.

Filmmaker's Inspiration

My grandmother was my inspiration. She could make friends with anyone if she wanted to, and she had a wicked sense of humor. Towards the end of her life she suffered from dementia, and she wasn’t able to maintain relationships as well anymore. I wanted to show a depiction of a wise individual acting young, just like my grandmother. I wanted to put a big personality and a loving face to an illness and a demographic that so often get looked over because it can be uncomfortable to look directly at it. But they’re way more fun to talk to than most, and it’s worth maintaining the relationship.

Well done! The characters were believable and the timing and flow of the
short moved in sync with the emotions it provoked. This would be an insightful
series as these two friends meet each day at at the park. Thank you for sharing!
