Follow the treatment described in the film and go for a walk. Notice the sounds. Feel the wind or the sun. And look at the natural life around you. How does it make you feel? Consider recording the sounds around you and taking a photo or two of the scenery. Reflect on both of these back at home. How do the visual and audio recordings make you feel?
Meet the Filmmaker

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Daniel Brereton has been working as a filmaker for 15 years, mostly directing music videos for bands such as Snow Patrol and Bastille. He has made commercial work for Head and Shoulders, Timberland clothing and Stella McCartney. Recently, his work has become focused on storytelling, through both narrative and documentary film-making. His aim is to tell the stories of the people and places of the north of England, and celebrate their diversity.

WHY THEY MADE THE FILM
“I was drawn to the subject of mental health, as it has become a much more open subject to talk about. And I wanted to create a film that was enlightening and optimistic, as well as challenging. I am deeply thankful to my friend for sharing his story, and I am compelled to share it with others, especially if it helps them identify their own mental health needs. It has definitely helped me. The aim of the film is to create a dialogue with people who may have similar issues, and encourage them to speak out to loved ones or professionals. I hope that everyone can gain insight from the film, helping them to help people they know who are going through difficult times.“

Beautiful film. I really like how we’re taken on a walking journey of amazing views and scenes all while listening to the teller share his journey out of darkness.
This film spoke volumes to me. It’s a process, it’s slow, one step at a time. Those thoughts came through loud and clear, as did the message that while change is scary, the fear of things staying the same is also pretty jarring.
Thank you, we are not alone on our journeys. Stay strong and so will I. Be well.
